Hello Malheur County!
With spring comes warmer days, this means mosquitoes are going to start coming out during the day and evenings. The vector control would like to remind the community what you can do to protect yourself and families from mosquito bites.
•Wear loose fitted long sleeves and long pants
•Wear bug spray that contains DEET. Always read the label prior to applying. Labels can vary from bug spray to bug spray. There are also mosquito wipes.
•Limit outdoor activities during the evening time.
•If you have any unwanted standing water around your home dump out the water, that can be a breeding site for mosquitoes.
•If you have a stagnant water source i.e sediment irrigation pond, stagnant irrigation ditches etc. on your property and believe mosquitoes are coming from it, please contact our office and a field monitor will come out and survey the water source. If you would like the district to keep surveying that water source for mosquito larvae the field monitor will have permission slips on hand. The permission slip will grant access to the water source to continue surveying and treat if necessary.
